Meet the Coach

Developing athletes beyond the scoreboard.

Volleyball is the vehicle. Confidence, resilience, accountability and leadership are the lasting result.

Why I Coach

Volleyball develops more than volleyball players.

The game teaches athletes how to recover after mistakes, communicate under pressure, remain accountable to teammates and continue working when progress feels difficult.

My role as a coach is to create an environment where athletes are challenged, supported and expected to grow. That means developing sound fundamentals and competitive confidence while also helping players become resilient, dependable teammates.

Winning matters. But the way athletes prepare, respond, communicate and support one another matters even more.

My Coaching Philosophy

Purposeful development. Honest expectations. Team-first growth.

Players deserve to understand what they are working on, why it matters and how improvement will be measured.

01

Teach With Purpose

Every drill, workout and competitive activity should connect to a clear developmental objective.

02

Make Growth Visible

Players establish personal baselines, set goals and learn to recognize progress beyond wins and losses.

03

Challenge and Support

Athletes grow when expectations are high, coaching is honest and mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn.

04

Build the Team

Individual development matters, but strong teams are built through trust, communication and shared accountability.

What Players Can Expect

A program built around preparation and progress.

Clear Instruction

Players learn the technical details behind each skill rather than simply being told to repeat a movement.

Meaningful Repetition

Practice is structured to build reliable fundamentals and then apply them in increasingly competitive situations.

Individual Feedback

Athletes receive specific coaching that helps them understand both what is working and what needs to change.

Honest Expectations

Effort, preparation, communication and coachability are expected from every athlete, regardless of role or experience.

About Coach Julie

Leadership experience brought to the court.

I coach volleyball at Triangle Math & Science Academy in Apex, where I have led and supported the development of both boys and girls programs.

Before coaching, I spent more than a decade leading technical organizations and programs at Cisco. That experience shaped how I approach communication, accountability, team development and performance under pressure.

Whether I am developing an athlete or leading a professional team, my approach is grounded in listening, clear expectations, purposeful preparation and helping people recognize what they are capable of.

Why JL♥VB Exists

Development should continue beyond a single practice or season.

JL♥VB brings together the training resources, performance tools and coaching principles I use to help athletes prepare intentionally and continue growing.

The goal is to give players a clearer understanding of their own development and practical resources they can use independently.

Compete. Grow. Lead.

Strong players improve their skills. Strong teammates improve the people around them.
